Joshua Augustus Bolles, son of Joshua and Theresa Augusta J. (Wheeler) Brown, was born May 26, 1856. Editor and proprietor of the New Milford Gazette, with Franklyn Henry Giddings of Great Barrington, Mass., purchased Ray in 1882 and, a little later, the Gazette, and merged the two papers into the New Milford Gazette.
